Storytelling in Photographs - Stalking

Stalking:

Here's a question for everyone... which photos do you think I can take out without harming the story?

p.s. Ofcourse damned auto-focus made the trees beauuutifully sharp in the second last shot. Sorry bout that. :p

  1. Hey Numair,

I think you could loose the 5th photo (chanya's lower body climbing stairs) without affecting the story, however, if I had to remove one picture, I would prefer to loose the last one. I think it's more suspenseful / freaky if we don't see what he actually does with her. Or, if you do want a resolution, have him end up doing something with her that we don't expect, I don't know what, maybe they're having a romantic dinner at the end, or he hands her something important that she had dropped. Also, if you really want to get the stalker feel, I think that the first two photos need to have different backgrounds, you may even be able to use a third one to establish him really observing her.

  2. You could lose the one with her leg up on the wall, or the final one, as Emud said, only I'd substitute it with another photo, maybe of the stalker off in the distance or a close up of blood on Chanya's hand (if you want to keep the stalking thing scary-ish).

    Have a great day!

  3. You know I totally agree with your comments but if I rearrange these pictures now, anyone else coming to read those notes would be so confused!

I was wondering about your comment on the last photo tho Emud. In moving pictures the tension built can give that missing photo at the end more of a cliffhanger feel, but I wonder if that feeling can come from still photos too..? It is a good idea though, and to tell the truth I had actually taken two different ending shots, one happy (they shake hands and become friends) and one sad (the one I posted), because I couldn't decide what the ending should be in the first place.

I agree with Emud's comment about the backgrounds in the first two. If I could make them different the time could feel more stretched out.

Yeah Michelle, the leg up one I wasn't too happy about but thought I needed it to carry the story. Oo I like the blood idea btw hehe.
