Errors I must point out:- My last name is spelled 'Abbas'.
- I was slightly misquoted. No single film to date, including animated ones, have been able to bring in a billion dollars. Shrek is an animated movie series with which episodes 1 and 2 together, along with their merchandising and everything that goes with, have been able to pull in 8 billion dollars by Dec. 2007 for the Dreamworks studio.

ReplyDeletesome where back there I had the courtesy to read an article where recognition of a Pakistani animator proving his skills and talent in Holly wood was mentioned ,that sure is another feather in the crown and quite thank fully all the credit goes to you ......
I was quite interested in this field so after reading My uncle rushed to me with the same article by Miss Saadia khalid and was wondering how to get an online link to this activity ,unluckily was not able to get through the Huner kada web site its still in the process of construction or may be iam not able to find proper web link ,any how found this direct blog instead and iam quite haPpy to write first comments here ,some how I have missed the great opportunity of attending the seminar, is there any other chance that one could see or attend further related event regarding Animations in the same location or else where but in local jurisdictions,I am keen in adopting Animation as a profession ,belive its far better to have proper orientation before making final decisions...???

Yes it's definitely important to have an understanding of a field you will be continuing with as a career direction.
ReplyDeleteIn my seminar I tried to explain how the subject of Animation is exciting as an art form because it includes drawing, design, color sense, characters, story, screenwriting, sound/music, voices/acting and a lot lot more. It is huge as a medium because it incorporates all the genres of film; horror, comedy, fantasy and so on, yet it is accessible enough for a single person to make a film sitting at home alone or with a team of talent in a studio. It is a great career choice because it is used in gaming, internet, interactive projects, film and television, even installation art. And it is constantly growing internationally even in times of economic turbulence. In Pakistan there are agencies in Karachi (e.g. Sharp Image, Intergraphics, Post Amazers, Pyramid), in Lahore (Dynapix and hmm another I cant remember the name of) and even in Islamabad (Trango, White Rice and my own - Gogimation)
I hope by 'local jurisdictions' you mean Islamabad/Pindi. I am based in Islamabad and will be teaching at Hunerkada very soon. From the beginning of the academic calendar (2009) I will also teach at NCA and FJWU.
On this blog you can find updates about what I am doing next and whatever I hear or read about animation around our region too.
confusinsimplicity: Yes I will definitely post updates here and will let you know when the classes start. Have you enrolled with Hunerkada? They will announce the class as soon as there enough students enrolled. I am quite anxious to get started but have to wait until Hunerkada set the exact schedule.

ReplyDeletewell there are many issues regarding my Carrier opportunities and my focuses ,my strong intrest and urge towards arts specifically Animation was quite evident from my child hood but unfortunately I could not manage groom my self rewardingly .I started having some orientational classes this way or that way for the purpose some where in 2000 and few informal courses too ,now its almost 8 years ago , I do have basic quite basic of the idea what aesthetics and arts really stand for I sure need to learn that as well groom my self rather then just going for hit and trial job .
Thank you any ways for your kind tendency towards proper lead of address at the bottom lines , and yes by 'local jurisdictions' I meant Islamabad/Pindi .
